After The Aunt Sally Team comes AUNT SALLY & MORE
Editorial reviews

The rich details integrated within the story are the elements that had me pausing and taking notice; they carried each character from scene to scene in such a well-designed flow. An element of harmony moved me easily from character to character; The weave of Aunt Sally & More is masterful.

There is a great sense of character in the book. I love the way it has developed into something more serious than The Aunt Sally Team and taken the characters to new levels. It is an absorbing and emotional read.

Find out what happens to the Aunt Sally team. A year on and it’s still going strong, but the lives of some of its members, past and present, seem to be in upheaval.

Dante is out of rehab, wanting Diana to give him another chance. But she finds that giving up drink is only the beginning of a long, rocky road for an alcoholic. His daughter Lucy fears abandonment and wants her dad to herself, and his old flame Lou has inveigled her way into his thoughts again. Can Dante and Diana’s love survive the trials and pitfalls as he fights his addictions and gets his emotions in balance?

Beth is drawn into the world of fashion, with all its glamour and dangers. She’s divided between her love for Zac, who’s back for the summer, and Harvey, who gives her the break she needs but seems to have a hidden agenda. The only person she can be sure of is pagan musician Humphrey, who’s like an older brother to her. In the end, torn between the two sides of her nature, she questions who she is, and her health and sanity are threatened.

Harry wants to leave Oxford and go away to uni. Can Lucy trust him or will he desert her like her dad did? After all, there will be loads of new girls to tempt him. When she runs into Zac then meets a handsome stranger on a train, things get more complicated than ever.

Lissa and Rashi return to Oxford from Sheffield with baby Ravi and move into the George and Dragon, home of the Aunt Sally team. Liss wants to make a go of it, but her Indian in-laws don’t want their son to have an English wife. The pressure on her marriage mounts till she wonders if she and Rashi can survive.

Jason and Rose are deeply in love but don’t have anywhere to be together. When things start to resolve, they take on Tyson, a puppy with a dodgy past and an uncertain future.

And Vera is determined to keep her friendship with Jim under control and on an even keel.

Sex, drugs and fashion modelling; Druids at the Neolithic Rollright Stone Circle; mushroom picking in the autumn woods; a gypsy-like existence aboard traditional canal boats on the river; old loves and new; all the ups and downs of relationships under pressure - Aunt Sally & More explores some of life’s deeper issues…but there’s still romance and wonder in the world, and Oxford and its surroundings are as beautiful as ever.

Aunt Sally More eBook Flick Merauld Beccy Blake

Having loved this author's previous novel, The Aunt Sally Team, I wondered if this sequel would be as good. It is! The actual game of Aunt Sally isn't mentioned as much as it was in the first book, but all the characters are back. The loves, tears and addictions are gone into at length. As I read, I realized the author can write a teenage girl as well as an older woman, a young man, an alcoholic...even a dog, with utter conviction of voice. It's what made this such a good story. She writes, I read, and the characters come to life. If you enjoyed The Aunt Sally Team, you will enjoy this sequel as well!. I highly recommend this book.

Aunt Sally More eBook Flick Merauld Beccy Blake Reviews

'Aunt Sally & More' is a great follow-up to the highly enjoyable 'Aunt Sally Team'. Although Aunt Sally Team felt like a 'complete' novel, there was still scope to explore the lives and loves of the characters, who have so much richness, depth and uniqueness that it's great to see where they go as their lives and relationships develop.
It doesn't cover old territory, rather explores certain key themes in more depth as well as introduce many new and interesting scenarios and dilemmas which will keep you entertained and intrigued.
So if you read the 'Aunt Sally Team' (and if you haven't - you should!), you should definitely read the follow up and be equally entertained and engaged.
I greatly enjoyed The Aunt Sally team and I didn't think that any sequel could match it...but I was wrong. Aunt Sally and More is everything the first novel is and much much much MORE...just as it says on the tin. It focuses more on the relationships than on the game which perhaps was the reason why it appealed so much to me. The various sensitive themes woven inside the story gave it that extra depth. Both books deserve the ten stars between them and I would highly recommend both.
I have enjoyed both Aunt Sally books they are well written with a well developed group of characters. That says a lot for the amount of characters and plots held together by a simple game. Book two goes deeper into the character relationships and the maturation of them all. Perhaps the one main couple,Dante finally recovering alcoholic and the beautiful, loving Diana are the most difficult with all the mood and and character swings of alcoholism. I could see their relationship moving into another book. Tl
It takes great courage for an author to script a credible, interesting novel around multiple characters with separate stories yet blend the stories together so meaningfully. The author has to be richly intuitive as to the synchronous ways in which we humans rub off each other's rough edges. During my read of THE AUNT SALLY TEAM, Flick Merauld demonstrated an ingenious level of talent for weaving her characters' individual stories together in a delightful yet poignant way. When she asked if I was interested in being one of her `review readers' of AUNT SALLY & MORE, I was thrilled and very curious as to the direction in which she would take her characters in the sequel.
I am a reader who thrives on being able to experience, to feel a slew of juxtaposed emotions within a novel's characters. In this sequel, Ms. Merauld masterfully scripts the subtle peeling away from within her characters the layers of defenses that mask their very human fears. She expertly takes on many complex relational themes intimacy, abandonment, substance abuse, cutting, aging; and cultural attitudes and differences. Each theme is addressed with maturity and insight, and the nuances that are inherent within such intricate relationships are impressively scripted. Within her story of quirkily engaging yet also, profound encounters, there is a balanced progression in the way that each character moves towards the self-revelations necessary to unmask their defensive subterfuges. Ms. Merauld's script of this progression reminded me of a dance; in learning new dance steps, often there are scary missteps and even walks off the dance floor. Her characters do experience many intense progressions yet each continues to move towards the fresh air of honest communication within themselves and ultimately, with each other.
An extra-special delight in the reading of AUNT SALLY & MORE comes from Flick's ability to write descriptions that are vivid and notable. Her words seem to invite her readers to join the characters as they move about in their various scenic places. I've not visited England, the United Kingdom, yet have such a realistic vision of what it would be like to live in places like Oxford, to take a walk in Ashton's Eyot.
The highest accolade that I can offer a novel is this the story made me laugh with delight and tear up in sadness; to nod my head in understanding as the characters felt the very human emotions of disappointment, guilt and blame; and to take joy as Flick's characters discover that being honest is the only way to lighten all heavy loads.
I read The Aunt Sally Team first (which you need to do) and absolutely loved it. Started to read Aunt Sally And More immediately and I was not disappointed. I felt like I actually knew the characters and was involved in their lives. I just wish there were more Aunt Sally books!.
